What if we decided to act on what sets our our hearts on fire? What if we dared to believe that we CAN.
You can. Yes, you.
If we understand that we are a product of our choices, it will tear down any idea that we cannot do this because of that or that person or my childhood.
In fact, YOU CAN, despite your past or current circumstances.
Victim-mindset gives you permission to not change because of every excuse you can think of. We all have the CHOICE to decide that we are not defined by our circumstances. You didn’t come this far to allow anyone to steal your power. Moving forward can look different-yet it’s up to you to decide that.
You have the power to change your life.
What do you dream about when you daydream? What secrets are written on your heart that you have never shared with anyone? If you could design the perfect life, what would you then decide it would be?
When we worked with women in Kenya, it was a group of women that decided to get out of their current situation by taking action. Their circumstances were different than mine and I was so inspired to see them “do it anyways” even though they had every excuse not to join our group. They had a reason to ditch our grassroots efforts and spend the day looking for food, clean water, and a way to pay for rent the next month. They came anyways because they saw an opportunity, did the work and chose to be different.
If we want our lives to look different, than it begins with nobody rescuing you, it begins with YOU deciding who to BE.
Write down your dreams. It doesn’t matter how silly or big or small or simple or complex they are, just write it down. Additionally, write down your favorite parts of you. Affirmations. “I am ______”. Begin with just one or two. I hear what you may be saying. I want to tell you this:
Do it anyway.
This is the most important part. Look at your written goals and affirmations 5 minutes before you go to bed, and 5 minutes when you wake up in the morning. This will begin your day and end your day with remembering what ignites you. Ask yourself, “WHY is this important to me”. Write that down.
Dare to dream that your dreams are not just an idea, but they are your marching orders. You have the power to create a life that you want. It demands hard work, grit, and a tenacious spirit of “do it anyways”. Anxiety is focusing on the larger picture rather than the next right thing. For even an elephant can be eaten one bite at a time.
